OBU Careers Network
“ONCE A SHORE BOY ALWAYS A SHORE BOY”
Shore has a very proud tradition of having its Old Boys participating in all manner of work. The school works hard to position boys in areas in which they are likely to succeed and enjoy life post school.
Old Boys and parents of boys are in the unique position of being part of the learning process. What do boys do when they leave school for advice about a job, study after school? Who do people talk to if they decide that they cannot continue in their current jobs and want or need to change jobs? Who can you talk to if you are in the unfortunate position of losing your job?
As part of the Whole of Life work the OBU is undertaking, this website has information that will assist new leavers, Old Boys and everyone in the Shore network. It will provide information on
Work experience - For new Old Boys, particularly those undertaking some form of tertiary study
Mentoring opportunities - for new Old Boys who may be studying or may be looking for further guidance in career/life
Careers advice/OBU Advice Network – the network has people who have experience and can talk about issues such as a career change; offer some advice to people who have found themselves out of work; as well as offering positions in their companies to Shore Old Boys
The services being offered below are all online and are a work in progress. Obviously for these services to work we need people to volunteer to assist. If you are an Old Boy or member of the Shore Community and you are able to offer support via Work experience; Mentoring; Careers advice or simply be part of the OBU Advice Network please contact the OBU Office on 9956 1123.
If you are a member of the Shore Community and you are looking for support, opportunities, guidance or a new start then contact the OBU Office on 9956 1123.
The services being offered are designed to help members of the Shore Community. While some people in the network are Careers Guidance Counsellors most are not – they are simply people trying to give something back to the school by sharing their experiences or offering access to people they know or to the companies in which they work.

The Shore Old Boys' Union recently launched the Shore OBU Online Career Advice Network. The number of parents (both mothers and fathers) and Old Boys volunteering to offer online career information and advice to both old boys as well as current students is growing rapidly.
If you need additional information on helping this exciting and important new program in any other way we would welcome your response by phone or email to Stephen Woodhill, Vice President Shore OBU – 0413 318 455 or stephenwoodhill@gmail.com.
