Melbourne Reunion

The Annual OBU Melbourne Reunion Gathering was held at the Melbourne Club on Friday 16 July 2010.  Attended by 33 Old Boys from the Southern Capital as well as Dr Tim Wright, Headmaster of the School, the President of the Old Boys Union Tony Bulmer (80) and Rick Clive (68), OBU Community Relations Manager.

Hosted by Stephen Brain (57) and convened by Steve Pilcher (63) those in attendance were entertained by a number of speeches most notably from Dr Wright whose informative speech on the success of the School and the recent purchase of Graythwaite was well received.   The Headmaster also responded with grace and attention to questions from the floor ably assisted by Tony Bulmer.  Rick Clive as always gave an interesting update on OBU activities, while Ken Mills (44) entertained everyone by reciting some verse from his own pen.

It was great to see once again those representing the nonagenarians, Benn Selby (32), John Clarke (33), Dick Bevan (35), Percy Newell (35) and John  Marshall (38), while a number represented the younger brigade, including James Campbell (96), Matt Derham (93), James Dorney (93), Simon Todman (93), Matt Dowling (92) David Mason-Jones (92), Bruce Teichert (91), Ben Howland (90) and Ed Nock (90).

It was also great to see Geoff Pollard (60), who only arrived back in the Country a few days before following his annual visit to Wimbledon as President of Tennis Australia.  Stephen Brain gave a Toast to the School, while Kevin Hindle (68) proposed an additional Toast to the parents for their vision, and for their moral and financial support in sending their sons to such a fine School as Shore.

Twenty Old Boys were unable to attend for a variety of reasons and sent apologies.
