1945 Reunion
Convener: Anthony Hardwick
The alumni of 1945 held their sixty fifth reunion on Friday 24 September in the Hawkins Foyer of the Senior School. Rick Clive (OBU Community Relations Manager) conducted a tour of the School's facilities and Kathy Dickson (Bursar) took the group over to Graythwaite for a very informative tour.
There were 28 attendees including two carers who enjoyed the aftenoon and catching up with life long friends.
Rick Clive as MC called on Convener Anthony Hardwick to welcome all. In doing so Anthony called for 1 minutes silence in memory of lost friends. Grace was said by Peter Valder, John Bruce gave a Toast to the School, while a vote of thanks was given by Michael Foster.
The Headmaster Dr Wright took time out in his busy schedule to drop in and have a chat with everyone. He also gave a 5 minute speech centering around the recent purchase of Graythwaite and what it will initally be used for.
A highlight of the afternoon was a 2 minute speech given by each from the year on their life and the defining moment in their working career. One such story centred around starting out as a Tradesman on the Docks of Cockatoo Island and following study, ending up a leading Marine Architect.
To conclude the afternoon strong voices belted out a rendition of Auld Langsyne with the year agreeing to re-assemble in 5 years for their 70th Reunion.
